Professional Overview
I have been in clinical social work since 2003, and in social justice activism since 1988. My professional career spans across four continents, two languages (Polish and English), and a variety of cultural, political, and economic contexts, originating in my native Poland, through the USA, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, and Canada.
I received my clinical training and Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) at New York University (NYU), and in the Advanced Training Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (ATPPP) at the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society (TPI) and Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (UofT). This was complemented by work in community mental health centres for adults, children, and adolescents, and a psychotherapy institute, as well as working for the social inclusion of people with Developmental Disabilities.
In addition, I enrich my insight, knowledge, and skills by continuing training in such approaches as psychoanalytic psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and brief solution-focused therapy.
From 2009 to 2016, I have been a member of the Board of Directors with the Central Chapter of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
